Bright brown eyes narrowed and alert, a silver she-cat wended her way through the musty, bracken-filled forest. Disgust filled her as pressed deeper, avoiding patches of slimy moss and sharp, thorny tangles. Her legs sported a web of red scratches that bled slightly, and her paws were bruised and cut. Her round, tufted ears were laid flat against her head, and Eaglesong opened her mouth in a slight snarl, her anger growing. Why on earth had she offered to track down that stupid kit? Bramblefeather should do it; she was the deputy! ...But no matter. She wouldn't have to put up with such idiocy for much longer. She stopped and stared up, hissing at the barely-visible blue sky. She dropped her dark greyish-pink nose, straining to scent her quarry through the brackish waves of stench rolling off the moss, and it seemed, everything else in this cursed wood. A faint kit-scent drifted to her, and Eaglesong's tail flicked irritably. There was the little rat. Ears now pricked, she slid under a mass of the thorny plants, growling as they scratched her back. The peaty soil clung to her fur as she straightened up and loped after the kit-scent, which was growing stronger. Suddenly she let out a snarl of frustration- Badgerscent had appeared, following the kit's trail. Would she have wasted all this time just to go get a dead kit? Nonetheless, she stalked forwards, hearing a terrified mewl, followed by a deep, throaty growl, sound from behind one of the mossy, damp, huge oaks that the forest seemed to be made up of. Eaglesong drew well to one side of the tree, then peered around carefully. Skykit was there, yes, but so was a rough, angry badger. The black-and-dirty-white-striped head whipped up, black shiny eyes glaring viciously at Eaglesong. Hissing, she put her left paw forwards. The badger barked angrily, but the silver tabby ignored it, reaching for the kit. He was shivering violently and squealed in terror as Eaglesong grabbed him by the pale grey scruff of his neck. Suddenly the badger lunged forward, and Eaglesong hissed and clawed her way up the tree, leaving the kit. It was too noisy anyways, and nocat had really liked it.

xx. welcome to my life. i had heard those words a thousand times, but never did they do anything to me as they did now. why is it always me? the tuxedo lifted her paw and brushed it over her ear calmly. her tail flicked back and forth as she awaited for the next words. but when they didn't come she glanced up. a single curse rolled from her lips as she leaped backwards, her eyes widened with shock.
xx. that cat that stood before her was not the same cat that she had grown with. she had been taken into this rogues care when she was only a few moons old, having been the strongest in her litter and the only one this tom had wanted to train. but now, she knew that she in deed was in trouble. the blood rushed to her head as she rose to defend herself.
xx. ivory claws lashed at her face as she dove away, dodging carefully, attempting to protect her eyes. a cry of pain echoed through the forest as she fell. the blood gurgled from her eye socket as the lone green eye sat on the forest floor between the two cats. she snarled in pain, and as it started to seep through her muscles, it turned to malice.
xx. you did this to me! how could you!?
[/color] with a cry of hate, the she-cat lunged at the brute, her white teeth glistening as she searched out the place she had been trained to aim for. this cat had trained her to be this way. and now, he would be his own demise. her jaws clamped down on the brutes throat and she felt his claws dig into her sides. he had taught her too well. xx. the cool air wafted around her as she felt the blow to her head. a cry of pain echoed yet again as she collapsed on her flank. she knew she would never awaken. but to her surprise, hours later, she did. her single eye blinked in the evening sun as she looked around. her bad eye had been dressed but her mentor was no where to be seen. xx. her eye adjusted quickly, but it took her time to learn to deal with the black emptiness that had made home in her other eye. with a soft sigh, the she-cat sank to her haunches and a vow was made. someday. i will find you. [/blockquote][/blockquote] character ;; flutterstep thread with ;; nina/redbird other ;; hahaha malice. :]

Wolfclaw puffed a cloud of steam into the air, it was leaf-bare. His breath mingled with the chilly air of snow, he crouched and his tail stilled. He could see a thrush, it had dared to come out during winter for food. Wolfclaw waited a second then pounced, but he was too late. The thrush had sen him and was scurrying quickly into a hole, no prey for the clan today. "Fox dung!" He exclaimed and shot out a paw to claw some bark from a tree in anger. He was starved and you could see his ribs, so was the whole clan. The queens were running out of milk and more and more kits and elders were dying. He stalked through some brush to look for more prey, he wasn't going back to camp empty-pawed. He lifted his mouth to the wind and tasted something in the air. It was slightly musky and slightly salty. He followed the scent and was surprised to find a full grown deer, a buck. It was weak and sick, but not starved. It was plump and juicy. Wolfclaw's mouth watered as he stared at what would save his clan from starvation. He crept closer and the creature moaned, and staggered to its feet. It pawed the ground and raised its antlers threateningly. but Wolfclaw was borderline desperation and he would risk his life for his clan. He was taking this buck down. Even if he had to die. Wolfclaw snarled and jumped, aiming for the buck's throat. He missed and landed on the buck's narrow face. Wolfclaw clawed the animal's eye as he tried to get off for another run. The buck , well, bucked and threw Wolfclaw into a tree. Wolfclaw didn't care that now he could feel blood gushing from a wound on his flank, he would finish this deer. He makes another run and hits his mark. The buck staggered, then fell to his knees. Then it fell over, Wolfclaw still holding on, blood pouring over him. Finally, the buck stilled. Wolfclaw yowled victory and collapsed on the spot, angry red dots dancing in his vision. His last thought, before he slipped away was, Clan's fed.
